Dick Earned a BS in Civil & Environmental Engineering at Clarkson in '72. Worked 45 years as a construction engineer; the last 35 at the Champlain Water District (CWD) in South Burlington. Spent about 10 years working for VT construction companies; SG Phillips, Pizzagalli, JL Davis on roads and interstate highways, municipal water and sewer systems. Traveled extensively in the US; a couple of trips to the west coast, several excursions to Las Vegas and Florida with classmates and college chums. Ask Cam about an interesting round-trip drive to the west coast, southwest and southeast in '76. Primarily VT. One winter in the USVI, a couple of summers at Joe's Pond (oh-boy!). Now nearly 40 years in Jericho. None AMCO Engineering, for Bob Millette on Elm Street; land surveying. Retired 12/30/2016 from CWD as the Chief Engineer & Assistant GM Licensed Professional Engineer from 1989 to the present. Recently honored by the VT Rural Water Assn. in recognition of "Extraordinary Contributions and Dedication" to the waterworks industry. Met Anne in 1980 while working on the Church St Marketplace construction in Burlington; she was with the City Assessor's office at the time. Married in 1982 (September 11!) Anne is still working in a medical office in South Burlington. Abbey is 28, working in San Francisco as an online marketing consultant. Anthony, 25, lives in Bend, Oregon and works for an arborist outfit learning the tree maintenance trade and "lumberjacking", hands-on. The kids have carried on their VT upbringing in the outdoors, camping, hiking, traveling freely, wherever they go. I enjoy reading, golfing, skiing, travel, an occasional trip to the casino, visits to the coast of Maine and southern beaches; still working on learning Italian. I do a bit of consulting, and sporadically drive for Lyft. Arrival to work for Pizzagalli Construction in Cruz Bay, St. John, USVI in '73 with only the clothes on my back; the airline lost my suitcase. "Find your way to Coral Bay and ask for Clarence" they said. So began my 1st semester at the school of hard knocks. Ms. Silsby, bless her quirky heart, taught me to seize a career in a profession I truly love. Our HS football coaches taught us sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and accountability, traits that many of us have been fortunate to be able to hand down to younger generations. Not then, but I'm starting to peck away at a lengthy bucket list now that I have more time. 2018-01-04 00:04:14
